Algorithm Engineer

Full-time
On-site
Shanghai, China
Algorithm Engineers build the intelligence at the core of the Mining World Model — the models that predict what lies below, and the systems that let AI read, structure, and reason over geological knowledge the way an experienced explorer would. You will work daily with geoscientists and data specialists, and your models will be evaluated not only on benchmarks but against real exploration outcomes — the ground has the final say.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and optimise AI algorithms for mineral exploration, combining geological, remote sensing, and exploration datasets in your modelling.
  • Design and implement algorithm modules for orebody prediction and exploration target identification, applying statistical methods and machine learning models to analysis and prediction.
  • Build knowledge graphs for mineral exploration — entity linking, entity alignment, and relation alignment across geological and exploration data — to enable automated reasoning and analysis.
  • Develop and optimise LLM-based agents that automatically understand and analyse geological exploration data.
  • Evaluate model and agent performance rigorously — including confidence interval and uncertainty analysis — and drive continuous improvement.
  • Work with geological experts and the data team to move models from research into use on live exploration projects.

Requirements

  • MSc or above in mathematics, statistics, artificial intelligence, geoinformatics, or a related field.
  • Strong Python, with hands-on experience in mainstream ML/DL frameworks (PyTorch, Scikit-learn, XGBoost or similar) and fluency with AI-assisted coding workflows.
  • Solid statistical foundations: able to independently design experiments and evaluate models.
  • Familiarity with knowledge graph techniques (RDF/OWL, entity linking, entity alignment, graph databases, graph embeddings) and/or LLM agent technologies (RAG, ReAct, prompt engineering, MCP, agent skills); strength in both is a plus.
  • Experience with remote sensing, geological, or other spatial data is preferred.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to drive cross-disciplinary collaboration.
