The Product Manager owns the planning and delivery of Deep Optica's core product: an AI-driven platform for 3D subsurface reconstruction and its visualisation tools. This is the connective role in a deliberately cross-disciplinary company — you sit between geological experts, algorithm teams, engineering teams, and customers, and your job is to turn capability at the crossing of geoscience and AI into products that clients can use and whose value they can see.
Responsibilities
Product (70–80%)
- Develop a deep understanding of how mining exploration clients — mining companies and geological consultancies — actually work; gather, analyse, and prioritise product requirements against their workflows and pain points.
- Own the feature roadmap and iteration plan; write requirement documents and drive delivery through design, development, testing, and launch.
- Work closely with the algorithm team (geophysical inversion, generative models) and engineering team (3D visualisation, data platform) to turn technical capability into product.
- Join client conversations, run product demos, collect trial feedback, and support commercialisation, including client engagement on international projects.
- Track the competitive landscape in mining technology and AI geoscience (KoBold Metals, Earth AI, Seequent, and others) and produce analysis that informs product positioning.
Product communication (20–30%)
- Own the accuracy and consistency of how the product is described externally: website product pages, product materials, case studies, and demo scripts.
- Work with the founders and technical team to turn specialist content into clear communication for clients, investors, and the industry.
- Prepare product content and materials for key moments — industry conferences, product launches, and major client engagements.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of product management experience; B2B/SaaS or professional software backgrounds preferred — GIS, 3D visualisation, or geoscience platforms such as Leapfrog or Micromine are a strong fit.
- Able to understand how algorithms and data systems work at a conceptual level — no coding required, but you must hold your own in conversations with algorithm and engineering teams.
- Excellent written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese, with the ability to independently produce high-quality product documents and external materials (essential).
- Strong drive: comfortable pushing projects forward, coordinating across teams, and operating at startup pace with limited supervision.
- Bonus: hands-on experience in mineral exploration or geological modelling; experience working with international clients (Australia, South America, Middle East).
